Dr Chong Kian Chun graduated from the National University of Singapore with the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1997. He subsequently obtained the Master of Medicine in Orthopaedics (MMed) from the National University of Singapore in 2001. In 2004, Dr Chong was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of Edinburgh (Orthopaedics). He subsequently underwent subspecialty training in Sports Orthopaedics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
Dr Chong’s subspecialty interest is in minimally invasive arthroscopic reconstructive surgery of the hip, knee and shoulder. He is one of the few Orthopaedic surgeons in Singapore who is trained in the techniques of hip arthroscopy. Common procedures performed by Dr Chong include:

Before joining Island Orthopaedic, Dr Chong practised in Changi General Hospital as Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon, and the Director of Orthopaedic Sports Service.
Dr Chong was a member of the Orthopaedics Specialist Training Committee for training of all Orthopaedic surgeons in Singapore and a former Clinical Lecturer at Yong Loo Lin Medical School, National University of Singapore. He held office in the 2009 Executive Committee of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association, serving as the Honorary Secretary. In addition, Dr Chong served as faculty for postgraduate Sports Medicine, and undergraduate Orthopaedic training. To promote the growth of arthroscopy, he has organised and instructed at numerous workshops on shoulder and knee arthroscopy. He is currently a member of the ISHA (The Hip Preservation Society).
