Provide academic support to children with learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia, dyscalculia)
Cognitive training to support learning (e.g. memory, processing speed or attention)
Conduct Educational Assessments (WRAT, TAPS, TVPS, etc.) for planning of individual programs
Responsibilities
Write Educations Reports
Use a wide range of interventions to enhance the learning process
Provide regular parental feedback
Develop weekly lesson plans for clients – inclusive of cognitive training, literacy/numeracy support and work for consolidation at home. Lesson plans to be planned and indicated thoroughly for each client.
Setting of IEP goals after 3 sessions – IEPs should include cognitive training goals, areas of Literacy/Numeracy support (e.g. phonemic awareness, spellings, language comprehension, number bonds). IEPs to be shared with parents and reviewed after 3 months.
Development of resources for clients or for general use (sight word flashcards, past year exam papers, spelling books and phonics handouts)
Maintain files and records for the purpose of documenting activities
Maintain inventory of equipment and resources and, to keep supplies in a clean and usable condition
Participate in quality improvement projects and develop new therapy programs
Job requirement
Minimum Degree in Psychology or Special Education
At least 1-year experience in teaching and working with individuals with Special Educational Needs
Advantage: Experience in Paediatric and School-Aged Population
Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
Able to work in team and independently
Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills
A resourceful person and team player
Committed to stay competent and up-to-date with current practices
